Description
Situated towards the southern border of Santo Stefano, Borgo La Casa is a cluster of three carefully restored farmhouses attractively painted in warm yellow, rich terracotta and stone colour, set in cobbled courtyards. Water from a mosaic tiled fountain bubbles out into a tiny stream that runs between the houses. La Casa also enjoys 360° panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
Each of the suites opens out onto different corners of the courtyards and terraces which are dotted with crimson geraniums and furnished with wrought iron tables and cushioned chairs for dining al fresco. Steps and cobbled walkways lead down through the gardens from the farmhouses to the lawned pool terrace. Here there is an immense mosaic tiled pool with beautiful pietra serena surround. Adjacent to the pool, there is a hexagonal jacuzzi with moulded seating set into the lawn, a favourite with parents with little ones. The vast open-air pool loggia with its wrought iron cushioned and sofas is a refuge from the sun and a great spot to gather for barbecues.
The stylish accommodation at La Casa has proved to be popular for couples and families alike, or groups of families wanting to holiday together but requiring independent accommodation.
The two bedroom air-conditioned apartment suites are furnished in a light contemporary style. The reception rooms are delicately decorated in shades of sky blue, primrose yellow and pea green with country furniture and modern, well equipped kitchens. This attractive theme is continued in the bedrooms, which are decorated in rich country colours of claret red, sunflower yellow and sage green co-ordinated with stylish upholstery and bedcovers.

The Area
Tuscany is a charmed land, equally blessed by the genius of man and nature. Rows of baby green vines manage somehow to march in arrow-straight formation up the gently rolling hillsides, bounded by single files of darker green cypress trees.
Symmetrically rounded hilltops surmounted by towns so homogeneous as to seem one single building. Every inch of land has been sculpted, first by the elements and then by generations of inhabitants whose goals were always to make the land produce as much as possible whilst keeping the land as beautiful as possible.
We have recently discovered some wonderful villas located in a private 1000 acre estate, 50 kilometres from Pisa, Florence and Sienna.
There is plenty to do and see in the area; artisans' workshops, churches and museums at the nearby historic towns of Montopoli, San Minato and Certaldo, as well as a good many sporting facilities in the vicinity. The English estate manager is happy to arrange wine tours, fishing trips, golf and even American horseback riding.
There is plenty to do in the area. The art centres of Florence, Siena and Lucca are within easy reach while close at hand are the evocative hill towns of San Gimignano, San Miniato. Keen walkers will enjoy strolling through the glorious landscape to neighbouring hamlets.
The management team have excellent local knowledge and contacts and are delighted to make bookings for restaurants and golf courses. Visits can also be arranged to local wineries and olive oil mills. Personalised tours of vineyards, historic villas and private collections with guides can also be arranged on request.
In summer there is an open-air cinema in Castelfiorentino and spontaneous festivals in local villages. There are also plenty of bars and tried-and-tested ice cream shops!
A selection of restaurants, from family-friendly trattorie to the internationally renowned, lie within easy reach. All have wine cellars with exceptional Tuscan wines.
The market towns of Castelfiorentino (population 17,500) and Montaione (population 3,500) lie 6 kms from Santo Stefano. They have a wide range of facilities including cafés, restaurants, a weekly market, banks, internet points, boutiques, good shops, hairdresser.
